A Closer Look at Endoscopic Brow Lifts

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.  Although I certainly can’t speak to the truth of that, I can attest that the eyes are definitely one of the very first places that people begin to notice signs of facial aging.  Specifically, the thin and delicate skin of the upper and lower eyelids can, over time, start to sag and droop, making the eyes appear smaller and sunken.  In many cases, this issue can easily be addressed with eyelid surgery, a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat deposits from the upper and/or lower eyelids.  However, it is important to keep in mind that the eyebrow and forehead region needs to be in its proper position before eyelid surgery – otherwise you’ll actually be making the eyes look smaller.  This can be accomplished through an endoscopic brow lift procedure.

Traditionally, a brow lift once involved a single long incision that extended from ear to ear over the top of the skull.  However, for many patients, it is possible to achieve subtle but noticeable results with a technologically advanced “key-hole” technique.  This endoscopic brow lift allows me to see and access the necessary muscles and tissues using only a few small incisions, each less than one inch long, that are easily concealed in the hairline.  This approach works particularly well on patients who are experiencing signs of aging only in this one area.  You can find out all about this minimally invasive brow lift technique in this short video:

As I explain in the video, many of the patients that I see in my practice want to make sure that their results are subtle and natural looking. That’s why I always recommend taking a staged approach when addressing facial aging.  A targeted facial rejuvenation treatment plan can begin as early as your twenties or early thirties with subtle, non-surgical treatment options, such as anti-aging skin care products, facial fillers, or Botox®.  From there, you can move on to selective minor surgical procedures such as facial liposuction, laser skin resurfacing, or chemical peels, and then to more extensive procedures only when, and if, they become necessary later on.  I have found that this gradual approach avoids the sudden and dramatic changes that make it obvious you have had work done, and give you long lasting, natural looking facial rejuvenation results.
