Tired of looking haggard, Deborah felt it was time for a change. Although she’s always taken good care of herself, nothing could stop the natural aging process, so she had a lower facelift procedure with Dr. Fernando Burstein including liposuction of the neck and jowls. After thorough research online, Deborah consulted with five different prospective plastic surgeons, but was most impressed by Dr. Burstein’s extensive knowledge of the facial anatomy and the fact that he only operates on faces.
Deborah received a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) from a different surgeon back in 1995, and chose to spend the night in the hospital after her facelift because she knew her tendency to feel sick after surgery. She said, “Staying at the hospital overnight was the best option for me. Dr. Burstein’s medical staff checked on me around the clock; overall, I had a great experience.” She said she didn’t even have to ask for anything because the nurses were so attentive.
Taking about two and a half weeks off of work, she said most of the swelling was gone by the 3rd week and she was completely recovered by the 4th week. She stated, “I love the results. I no longer feel like I look tired and haggard when I look in the mirror.” She said that the best part about her cosmetic surgery is that “it looks natural; people can’t put their finger on what I’ve had done.” Dr. Burstein strives to provide subtle cosmetic results with facelift surgery. In Deborah’s words, “He doesn’t give you that wind-blown look.”
Deborah mentioned that the people who undergo plastic surgery “want to look good, not shocking.” Dr. Burstein takes that into consideration with every patient he meets, which is why he works to hide scars so they’re least noticeable. Deborah was very impressed with her scars, and says they were hidden very well.
Pleased with her choice of Dr. Burstein as her plastic surgeon, Deborah said that he “only gives you what you really need.” During consultation, Dr. Burstein listens to his patient’s goals and discusses their desired procedures. He voices his honest opinion and will tell patients if their desired procedure will accomplish their goals, which increases the patient’s overall satisfaction.
Equally pleased with Dr. Burstein’s staff, Deborah made an appointment with Dr. Burstein’s nurse practitioner to receive facial filling injections (i.e., Restylane® or Juvéderm®) to complete her new look. Dr. Fernando Burstein’s rhinoplasty patient Miranda is, in a word, busy. Miranda’s efforts are focused on getting into college and pursuing a career in education. Speaking with the naturally bubbly Atlantan, you would never recognize her once self-conscious feelings about the appearance of her nose.
When she turned 13, Miranda began to express her discontent with her nose to her mother. Miranda’s mother listened carefully to her daughter’s concerns, and after thoughtful consideration, agreed to allow Miranda to undergo nose surgery (rhinoplasty) before school started in the fall. Speaking fondly of her mother’s continued support Miranda shares,
“A lot of people may hold negative views of parents who allow their teenage children to undergo facial cosmetic surgery. My mom is so protective and conscientious of my care, I know she maintains my best interest no matter what challenge I’m facing.”
Impressed by Dr. Fernando Burstein’s specialized expertise in facial cosmetic surgery and Atlanta reconstructive surgery, it was Miranda’s mother who researched Dr. Burstein and first suggested Miranda speak with him about her possible procedure. Miranda liked that Dr. Burstein had experience operating on children before and listened to her concerns:
“Dr. Burstein and his Atlanta Plastic Surgery staff were absolutely wonderful! They listened to what I wanted out of the surgery and were realistic with what could be accomplished. They even gave me recovery tips so that I would heal faster.”
Heal faster she did. Five days after her rhinoplasty surgery, Miranda began school right on time with the rest of her classmates. Miranda is now thrilled with her rhinoplasty results. Friends she’s known for years noticed how confident she looked starting the new school year, but couldn’t put their finger on what exactly had changed.
Miranda isn’t interested in pursuing any additional cosmetic surgery at this point in her life, but says she will gladly allow Dr. Burstein to assist her with any “age maintenance” she faces in the future. A devoted volunteer for Emory University’s Autism Center, Miranda knows that many of life’s positive influences are more easily seen than heard. She continues to use her story as a testament to the power of self-improvement and enjoys speaking to young people struggling with the decision to undergo cosmetic surgery.

If you have had the pleasure of seeing any of Keiko’s photographs you know that she is an artist that recognizes the beauty of the human form. Having been a dancer for the past 40 years, Keiko also takes pride in maintaining her own health and beauty. That is one of the reasons why Keiko opted for rhinoplasty nose surgery over 22 years ago.
She recalls that during her first procedure, performed by another surgeon, she felt she was a “project” instead of a patient. Eventually the material that was used in her original, unusual nose surgery caused an infection, diagnosed through an MRI. Concerned about her health and the repercussions an infection would have on her augmented nose; Keiko was referred to and contacted Dr. Burstein of Atlanta Plastic Surgery.
Keiko was impressed with Dr. Burstein, because of his expertise and experience with facial cosmetic surgery, specializing in rhinoplasty surgery; but what made her decide to choose him as her surgeon was the level of comfort she felt during the consultation. His bedside manner and knowledge of the field made the surgery process very easy – calming any fears she had.
Dr. Burstein worked to cure Keiko’s persisting infection, and performed revisionary rhinoplasty surgery to correct and improve the look of her augmented nose. After surgery, Keiko says that she feels great! She continues to photograph and keep in shape though her weekly, athletic hobbies including contemporary, areal, and acro-yoga dance classes. Keiko’s even joined a performing extreme tumbling team, and says that if and when she is ready for another cosmetic surgery procedure, Dr. Burstein will be her plastic surgeon once again.

Caroline, an active grandmother of two, is well traveled. Having lived in North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, as well as working for a leisure travel agency for 30 years, she’s seen a lot. But after her family started jokingly referencing her “turkey neck,” Caroline decided to make an appointment with Plastic Surgeon Dr. Fernando Burstein of Atlanta Plastic Surgery to discuss some rejuvenation options.
“I had been thinking about having my neck done for the last year, and finally got the nerve to make the appointment with Dr Burstein after my daughter convinced me how great I would look with the natural-looking improvements Dr. Burstein’s surgeries produce” said Caroline.
After her initial consultation, Dr. Burstein suggested several small procedures to insure a natural looking rejuvenation including: a lower facelift, neck lift, lower eyelid lift (blepharoplasty), and mild chemical peel. The lower face and neck lift successfully remedied the “turkey neck” Caroline was concerned about by removing excess skin and fat along the jaw line while the eyelid and chemical peel firmed and smoothed the skin of her face.
“My friends keep asking me if I’ve been on vacation because I look so rested” says Caroline happily. “My life is great, I’m back to doing all of my favorite outdoor activities like walking and hiking, except now I make sure to wear my hat to protect my young looking face!”
