Torticollis

Torticollis is an inherited or trauma-induced twisting of the neck in which the head tips one direction while the jaw tips the other way. It can be congenital (occurring during fetal development), or caused by an accident or trauma as an adult when the nervous system or neck muscles are damaged. Those suffering from torticollis experience a limited range of motion of the head and neck, neck pain, muscle stiffness, and frequent headaches.

Surgery to correct torticollis includes releasing a muscle in the neck called the sterno-cleido-mastoid muscle to eliminate restricted movement and allow for a full range of motion in the head and neck.  For more information please contact our offices in Atlanta, GA.
